What are LTEs?

  • by

Letters to the Editor (LTEs) are short letters written by community members and are addressed to the editor of a newspaper or magazine. News outlets include these in their publications (online & print) to show somebody’s opinion about a current issue.

Letters to the Editor (LTE’s) are the most widely read feature in any media outlet. This is your opportunity to comment on a current issue. The tone can be professional, humorous, but always respectful and above all – it should be persuasive.

The term “Letter to the Editor” can sometimes be misconstrued, as you are not really only writing it for the editor, you are writing it for the public.
